DIET
Digital Image Evaluation Tool
DIET is a software tool specially developed for the evaluation of flash x-ray (FXR) pictures of stationary shaped charge tests. DIET semi-automatically detects shaped charge jet particles and automatically determines all important jet characteristics like the mass profile M(v), cumulative length, particle breakup times and positions as well as drift velocities. Evaluation results can be visualized, exported to third-party software or be used as an input for an analysis in MAP. Additionally, data from diagrams in images can easily be digitized and extracted.
Applications
DIET is primarily used for the evaluation of single, double and orthogonal FXR images of shaped charge jets.
Evaluation of SC jet characteristics
Determination of SC jet / particle data for terminal ballistics simulations (e.g. in MAP)
Data extraction from diagrams in images
Specifications
DIET offers several advanced features
Determination of mass profile M(v), cumulative length, particle breakup times and positions as well as drift velocities
Two different methods for automatic particle detection (gradient descent and blackening similarity)
Manual contour provision
Optional reference wire scaling for enhanced accuracy
Least-squares fit for virtual origin determination
